| Long description | Ugra / Fogra Digital Print Scale The Ugra / FOGRA Digital Print Scale is a control device for quality assurance, especially with digital colour printing systems. Thou control device is programmed in Postscript and determines, independent of the manufacturer, the most important reproduction properties of Postscript compatible output units. The UgralFOGRA Digital Print Scale is specificly designed in the process colours Cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Similar control patches are used with each process colour and these patches are generated depending on interactivly queried RIP information at the time of actual output. Resolution depended patches document the actual resolution and the output quality for digital colour printing systems. The Ugra / FOGRA Digital Print Scale is a significant enhancement for quality assurance and is founded on the UgralFOGRA Postscript Control Strip which is a Standard control device for prepress since 1990. The Ugra / FOGRA Digital Print Scale is available only in digital form as EPS andlor PDF files. The "EPS" (Encapsulated Postscript) version is suitable for import into Page makeup programs such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, or FreeHand. The "PDF" version is utilized when a PDF based workflow is used to generate output. During transformation from EPS to PDF the EPS file of the control device usually looses its interactivness. During transformation the program code which queries system data and resolution is replaced by Adobe Acrobat parameters and Settings which then are used for later output. For quality control and quality assurance it is necessary that the actual output parameters and the achieved output resolution are documented. With the PDF of the control devices these interactive functions stay available and quality assurance is achieved. |
